Add a Rustic Touch to Your Home with Cheesecloth Curtains

If you’re looking to add some extra charm to your home but don’t want to spend a lot of money on store-bought curtains, then try making your own cheesecloth curtains with this helpful guide from The Sweetest Occasion. Cheesecloth curtains are easy to make and cost far less than purchasing them at the store. Plus, they add an elegant touch of elegance to any room. Here’s how you can do it yourself!

How to Get the Look

If you’re looking for a way to add a rustic touch to your home décor, why not try making your own cheesecloth curtains? Cheesecloth is a loosely woven fabric that’s often used in cooking, but it can also be used to create beautiful, light-filtering curtains for your windows. Here’s how to get the look

1) Measure the height and width of your window opening and purchase enough cheesecloth to cover each side of the window by an inch or two.

2) Cut off one corner of the cheesecloth at a 45 degree angle, which will be your hemline. Iron this edge down flat so it won’t fray or unravel over time.

Fabric Options

Cheesecloth is a loosely woven fabric that is perfect for draping. It has a natural look that can add charm and elegance to any room. You can find cheesecloth in different weights, so it’s important to choose the right one for your project.

Size and Length

Cheesecloth curtains are an easy and inexpensive way to add a touch of rustic elegance to your home. These curtains can be made in any size and length, and can be hung from a rod or tied back with ribbons.

How to Install Curtain Rods

Installing curtain rods may seem like a daunting task, but it’s actually quite simple. Just follow these easy steps and you’ll be on your way to installing the perfect rod for your home:

1) Decide how high you want the curtains.

2) Measure from the ceiling down and make a mark on the wall where you want the bottom of the rod to be installed.

3) Use pencil or chalk to mark this point and then measure up about 8 inches and draw another line.

Where To Buy

You can find cheesecloth at most fabric stores, or online. I like to buy mine from Jo-Ann Fabrics, but you can also find it on Amazon. Make sure to get a high-quality cheesecloth, so it will last longer. Measure the length and width of your window and then purchase enough material for two curtains, plus some extra for tying them together. Lay the cheesecloth out flat and measure how wide you want the curtain to be (generally around four inches). Then, fold the material in half and cut off any excess that’s sticking out. Once you have two panels of cheesecloth, thread one panel through each edge of your sewing machine and sew the top edges together.

Curtain Ideas

Cheesecloth curtains are a great way to add a rustic touch to your home décor. They’re also easy to make! All you need is some cheesecloth, a few dowels or rods, and some patience. To create these curtain panels, I measured the length of my windows and cut two pieces of cheesecloth accordingly. The widths of the fabric were determined by how wide I wanted the curtains to be in proportion to the window size.
